he is outside sfo. please continue. reporter: one of the things they mentioned on the previousing is they are working on limited capacity. there are four air strips here at sfo, and they only have two of them. and that means they are only allowing limited flights to land and to take off. that obviously is causing a pretty serious backup of passengers here at sfo. let me show you really quick. this is actually a pretty busy time for departures and arrivals. you can see the backup of vehiclesment people who are offloading the people who are supposed to be here for flights. one of the things we're learning as you walk somewhat the terminal, is that there's not a whole lot of information that passengers are getting. in fact there's a lot of people who are asking a lot of us members of the media which the happened, who all was aboard the plane, how many people were injured, and even who passed. they are not -- they're also trying to figure out exactly how they're going to continue their flight. we did talk very brief live wi

but sfo right here -- and that's exactly where we actually saw some clearing. so these are conditions at #k this morning. very dense overcast. here are the runways right here. and during the time of the crash, you can see -- this is 11:28. this is sfo, all of the low clouds clouds and fog had burned off and the conditions at that time, at 11:27, mostly sunny conditions, 64 degrees, light southwesterly wind flow at seven miles-per-hour. the faa does have some wind sensors right here, right near the actual bay, right close to the front of those runways, and we're not privy to that information but you better believe they will be looking at those wind speeds as that wind was pulling up from the southwest right over the open water. but suffice to say that typically this time of year we have such a low ceiling. today not the case. at 11:27, with mostly sunny, 64, and a light wind out of the southwest. we'll take a detailed look at the seven-day forecast in a bit. >> the passengers who were not injured were taken to a guarded room at sfo for safekeeping. >> and we hav

. >> sfo today. i want to start by kind of reconfirming some of the facts then we'll provide some updated information on passenger numbers for you. so, again, this morning pat 11:27 a.m., we had incident involving asiana flight 214, this is a flight that originated in shanghai and continued on through seoul airport on its way to san francisco. it's a boeing 777 aircraft, and our manifest count, the number of individuals onboard the aircraft, 291 passengers and 16 crew for a total of 307 onboard the aircraft. as i mention, we do have updated information on the status of those passengers and crew and for that i'm going to turn it over to assistant deputy chief dale karnes. dale? >> good evening. of the 307 souls onboard, we had 181 total that were transported to local hospitals. of that 181, 49 were serious and were in the initial victims transported from the scene. an additional 1312 were transported later on into the incident after being triaged. they were minor to moderate casualties. we also accoun
